About English Phrases
English Phrases helps learners understand the expressions that textbooks often skip: idioms, phrasal verbs, and collocations.
How a lesson works
Every lesson has the same four parts: a simple meaning, three real examples, a note on how to use the phrase, and a common mistake with the correction. Lessons are marked with a level from A2 to C1, so you can choose what suits you.
Practise with the quiz
The quiz shows you a phrase and four possible meanings. If you choose the wrong one, it tells you which phrase that meaning belongs to.
Who makes this site
English Phrases is made by Ahmad, who has been teaching English for about 10 years. He built this site to teach idioms, phrasal verbs, and collocations. These expressions are crucial for speaking spontaneously and fluently, but learners often meet them only by chance.
Each lesson is drafted with the help of an AI assistant. And Ahmad checks every lesson before it is published.
